• Eewan grew up on outskirts of Moscow, Russia. He focuses on two mediums for his storytelling - photography and illustrations. 

  Many of his peers have become drug dealers, alcoholics or people without direction. He has avoided this path, according to himself, "purely due to the fact that he painted on walls."

  Whilst painting, he has encountered many different people, ranging from graffiti writers to "left of centre" designers. Eewan believes he is now at the stage where it is time to tell you all that he knows. 

  Eewan humbly warns that you can either take him seriously, or think that all that he shows you is a joke. But by seeing through his thinly veiled irony with a sense of humour, a touch of sarcasm and a little bit of self-depreciation, his work may just have been created for you.

  He lists his adversaries as graffiti writers who do not know why they paint, people who are trying to criminalise art and the artists who have made their careers with a protracted sense of monetary gain, hand in hand with uninteresting performances. However a key factor in his work are these opponents, and with their help he is depicting the reality of what is happening in the art world in general, by holding a mirror to it's ways.

• This book tells the story behind the creation of The Grifters, who in a short time have left a long lasting legacy within the graffiti community, pioneering the analogue aesthetic since it’s inception with it culminating in Grifters Code. In this they translated their analogue photography into a digital video format and used the internet for distribution, something entirely different to the normal ebb and flow of the graffiti world. The book goes on to chronicle the success story and birth of Good Guy Boris, explaining and defining the heritage of The Grifters and Grifters Code, the path that lead from its embryonic stages in the backwaters of Bulgaria, through to becoming a mainstay of graffiti photojournalism in the capital of France – and everything in-between.

   

  Part of the focus of the book is Grifters Code; an episodic series of short films that broke the self-imposed and unwritten rules of vandalism, bringing to the viewer not merely the end result of a graffiti piece, but the whole adventure and mystique that surround the process. “Documenting Modern Graffiti Writing” is a testament not only to the evolution of The Grifters, but modern graffiti as we now know it.

  As evidenced by its title, the author seeks to explain the motivations behind the documentation of modern day graffiti and explore the more meta concepts in the graffiti world, such as how The Grifters fuelled a resurgence in analogue photography within the graffiti community.

This book presents three projects by Lek & Sowat (Terrains Vagues, Vandalisme Invisible, and La Trappe), curated by Hugo Vitrani at the Palais de Tokyo. From 2012 to 2014, the two French artists invited fifty international artists, most of whom were writers, to contribute works within the contemporary art venue, both legally and illegally. The book features underground ventures, as well as ephemeral or permanent experiments. We are thus questioned about the place of graffiti in an institution.

"After five years of retirement we are finally working on the 9th issue of the Most Wanted Magazine.

We published the magazine in faith of presenting an alternative to online graffiti platforms and in order to show a selection of pictures and texts, that would otherwise be hidden from the public. We support the fact, that a print-magazine is the result of decisive editorial work. For this reason we want to pursue a new approach for our magazine and intend to highlight a certain topic within every single issue.

Issue number nine has the title Maturation: The focal point will be the individual development of certain writers and their graffiti."
